Idle BackupsiDrive is currently offering three different packages to support the different types of demographics that utilize online backup and cloud storage the most. Their prices are very affordable, and the number of features that are included in their package options are substantial. They are a reliable and secure choice in this field.
Features:iDrive has a bunch of different features that launch automatically upon installation of the software from the website, which is not something that everyone can say. They also offer an easy way to manage multiple accounts, which is perfect for businesses. iDrive also has applications available to be downloaded on your mobile device so that you can view your accounts on the go.
Summary:By creating packages offered specifically towards families and businesses, iDrive has carved out their own little niche in a market overrun with companies claiming to be the best and most affordable. The free individual account is perfect to store things just for college students that need the space and convenience that cannot always be achieved with the computers they are currently using.
Product Ideology:iDrive doesn’t want to be confused with any other cloud storage company, so they have created packages that can easily fit into a family’s technology budget and only includes the features that they will use on a daily basis. While some small companies may also find this works for them, the larger business account has some aspects that cannot be found in an individual or family account.
Security:All packages with Elephant Drive include 128 bit encryption to offer the highest protection available on the market today. In addition to this, those that have signed up with the higher two of the three options are also promised geographic redundancy, which can make a big difference in the security of your data. Everything is stored remotely in one of their data centers, which are constantly monitored to ensure that all of the security measures put into place remain free from corruption.
Storage Space:Prices range from less than five dollars a month to just about $80 monthly, depending on how much storage space you are looking for. The business package has the largest amount of options on how much storage you want, which is great if you are looking for a more customized package. There is also a discount if you sign up and pay for an annual rate rather than monthly that can save you about the cost of 2 months of service.
Ease Of Use:The step-by-step setup process is all you ever really need to deal with to use iDrive. This process takes the most commonly used items and automatically sets them up to be backed up. If there is something else you want, all you have to do is click on the box next to it. Modifying your current backup schedule is very easy as well, and requires little training to achieve.
Customer Support:Online chat is available for customer support, as is telephone and email. They have even provided the extensions for different departments right on their website so you know how to get into contact with whomever you need quickly and easily.
These people are unethical. I had 20 Gigs of data on my PC. Their software kept duplicating my SQL files. They told me twice they had it fixed. They charged me $250 in November and $431 in December, and wouldn't credit me back. This is fraud.
If you look at other providers, they seem to be all about simplicity, but this isn't the case with iDrive. It looks shiny and new when you install it but when you need help or assistance afterwards, forget it. Backing up your data is something that is important, but if your provider can't get back to you within a week whats the point in putting your trust in them?!
Used this for years. It's on autopilot and still hasn't used up my storage. Don't expect it to get applications because either you have them or you don't have the disks. I don't have to save the ridiculous stuff that I use (photos and ableton live stuff) so I'm not worried. And I've restored some files to "test" it and it works! Nice job, folks.
As a frequent flyer, the file sharing (particularly the file collaboration) was very very handy. I no longer need to worry about packing countless CD's and disk and all the rest of those old storage devices. This is the future for sure. If it was a bit cheapter, it would be a plus though
After problems with speed of backup and technical support, they will not get anymore of my money. If you consider online chat a viable source of technical support, this is your product. Try to get to speak with a real person...

I'm in the industry and plain and simple, you get what you pay for.
These guys also make the iBackup product and the iDrive service uses the same client. The client may be a little outdated but it’s very flexible and has everything you need including bandwidth throttling.
Uploads and downloads are the fastest I’ve tested. It used all the 5Mbps my ISP allows for uploads and downloads were in excess of 10Mbps. There are some cool apps for iPhone / iPad (not just web front ends) that make accessing your backups easy when remote.
I’ve had no issues with large files (4GB+) – and I’ve tested both uploads and downloads to make sure it works.
The perception is it’s more expensive (~$5 per month for 150GB) but the truth is the unlimited guys are only offering ‘unlimited’ as they don’t expect you to use > 50GB. Don’t be fooled – I’ve tried using the unlimited offerings to find they fall short and my data isn’t safe. Simply put – they cant afford to give you unlimited as they are buying their storage from somewhere too.
I don't know if anyone has tried to backup a hard drive that includes an Applications folder, but they might find, as I did, that any programs that may have been copied from an old computer will not be backed up, but stored as a terminal file. In my case these are all ones that belong to me, but, in some cases, no longer have the original disks. When I asked iDrive support, I received this reply: In order to restore a file in its original format, the application that is used by the file previously should be installed on the computer. If the application is not installed, the file will be downloaded as a executable or an unknown file format.
"... we request you to install the applications that are used by the files to restore. You would not be able to backup the applications installed on your computer as it is not supported in IDrive"
Is it just me, or does this amount to a kind of censorship? When I signed up to this program, I did not expect it to make judgments about which of my material to back up – after all, my external drive does not do this. However, it should not surprise anyone who has had dealings with the Apple organisation, through which I took this out...
