Cloud storage is everywhere. With new providers and products filling the market all the time it is a surprise the industry hasn’t drowned in it’s own success. But we need it, our appetite for all that is mobile and all that is digital is fueling an ever growing need for cloud storage.
Cloud storage allows us to continuously consume data via a plethora of internet ready devices without ever filling up their hard drives or memory cards. By uploading all the data that we generate or download to a cloud storage account we can warrant ourselves the ability to have access to it all, all the time without having to carry any of it with us. I don’t even think we can begin to put a figure on how much data the average young person generates in a day, let alone the average business person or company.
Cloud storage is accessible via any internet ready device which means not only can we backup our smartphones, our laptops and our tablets to the cloud, but we can also access everything we have stored within them too. File storage raises some security questions among the public, but there is no need to worry. Cloud storage providers in the majority, encrypt their data on upload and during storage so as to ensure it’s safety to the highest degree. Your data is far safer in the cloud than it is on your phone or your laptop, clouds can’t be stolen, lost or dropped.
Cloud storage is set to rake in somewhere in the region of $73 billion by 2015 through public consumption alone, but that’s not all, business consumption is likely to hit $100 billion with no sign of stopping in just three years. As the age we live in becomes ever more technologically advance the greater the need for cloud storage becomes.
Clouds are everywhere because we need them. Simple as that.
