as a hard drive replacement

What do you think of online storage as a hard drive replacement?

Not yet feasible up to now is my opinion, but it is headed that way. Until such time when Internet connection for everybody is not an issue (read:insanely fast and always available anywhere, not to mention rock stable), then we cannot do away with local disks.

Besides, I do want to have copies of my data offline. There is always that instance where a network connection is not possible. Not to be able to store data offline would be counter productive.

For me nothing will ever replace the hard drive. An online backup system for me is just that- backup. A physical hard drive that is in my physical possession gives me a sense of security and control. Besides, this is my data.
